We welcome all who join us today for at our Church Anniversary Celebration which is being led by our minister Phil, who invites us to join him in a ’bring & Share’ lunch in the hall following the service.
Today also marks the beginning of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and this Evening we will join members of Pontypridd Christians Together to at Capel Rhondda to celebrate Christian Unity.
A number of tables will be set aside at the back of the hall for those unable to join us for lunch and who wish to stop and chat with friends over a cup of coffee. All are invited to join in this time of informal fellowship.

Church Family News
Most will have already heard that sadly Simon’s Dad, Cliff, died peacefully last Sunday afternoon. We pray for Barbara (his wife) and Simon, Sue, Bethan and Ben and Simon’s sister, Ann and her family as they mourn for him and prepare to say their final ‘goodbyes’.
We include the family of Mark’s friend Mal, who also sadly died before Christmas, as they prepare for the burial of his ashes in Brisbane.
We remember Marlene McCloy as her husband Rod is in hospital for tests, and we continue to keep Adrienne in our prayers.

Dates for your Diary
Wednesday 21st January Ladies Guild
The ladies will entertain each other during ‘Housewives Choice’ as they share memories, poems, stories and more during the afternoon. Taking part is NOT compulsory just come along at 2pm to listen and enjoy!
Sunday 8th February Church Meeting
At the Church meeting in October it was agreed that after checking the constitution that the Elders should fix the date for the church meeting. The constitution states that Church meetings should be held at least once a quarter, therefore and considering the dark nights, the elders decided to trial having ‘winter’ church meetings after the morning service. We ask you to please support this meeting as you are able.
The morning service will be in Church NOT Church House.

Notices
Church Anniversary Gift Day
At the last Church Meeting it was agreed to have a gift day for the kitchen on our anniversary Sunday. We have been awarded a grant of £5,000 but need at least another £30,000. Gift Day envelopes are available today, if you gift aid please write your name or number on the envelope.
Kitchen – Good News
We have had permission from the URC Listed Building Advisory Committee to extend and refurbish the kitchen; this means we can apply to grant funding bodies who need to know permission has been given.
Hopefully it won’t be too long before work starts.
As agreed at the last church meeting the Elders having looked at a summary of 2014 accounts and are recommending that we pay for the work from our reserves.
The estimate is £34,534. Details are available from the Treasurer for people interested in the break down..
The tender is for an extended kitchen in a public building which is listed. This means higher costs because of health and safety issues and the use of materials which are suitable for a listed building.
Spare Ticket
Kath Couchman has a spare ticket for the WNO performance of ‘Hansel and Gretel’: Please let her know if you are interested.
London Marathon – a Challenge!
Two dates to make a note of: February 21st – a ‘special’ Coffee Morning and March 28th – a musical concert. These are events that Iestyn has planned – Please keep the dates free and support Iestyn in his bid to raise £2000+ for Macmillan Cancer Care’.
News for publication
