15th September 2024

WELCOME EVERYONE…..to the first service in Castle Street, Treforest…..OUR NEW HOME

We are here at last!    It’s taken a long time and it is possible that not everything will be right as we adapt to our new surroundings and space. We will face many challenges as we travel onward, please be patient.

Our service will be led by Lewis Lewis-Head and we look forward to this time of fellowship with him.

Refreshments will be served after today’s service and Handmade cards will be available.

We are hoping to Live stream the service, but if we fail, the service will be available later on YouTube.

Our First Service in Treforest

We will use the double doors at the side of the building as the main entrance, there are no steps.

Should anyone arrive late access will be through the other door.

We have permission to use the 9 spaces available in Castle Court car park. Please, park in the marked bays and allow access for Andrew and the staff of Castle Court.

Church Family and Pastoral News

  • We are very pleased to say that Dave came home on 4th September and is making good progress: Kath says he’s even got his sense of humour back!
  • We continue to hold Julie Kirby in our prayers as she prepares for both Ian’s Funeral and the Thanksgiving Service which will be held at Abergavenny URC, Castle Street, Abergavenny, NP7 5EE on Thursday 19 September at 12.30pm. Dates for your Diary

St David’s Uniting Guild will be starting again on Wednesday October 2nd. We shall be meeting in St Catherine’s at the usual time of 2pm. You will be directed to the room we will use.

We have a very interesting programme arranged and it would be lovely if we could welcome new members. It is such a good opportunity to meet up during the week and keep in touch. Just a taster of what the diary has in store…..October 2nd. Marcia will be talking about and reminiscing about past guild activities and if they have influenced us in any way. Nordic walking comes to mind as one example.

October 9th Robert will be taking the floor. He has so many different hobbies which he has shared with us previously so will look forward very much to his talk.

October 16th Martin Smidman, education lead of the Samaritans, will tell us about the work of that organisation.

October 23rd Dr Daryl Letworthy will talk to us about Elaine Morgan OBE who was born in Pontypridd and who was a Welsh writer for television and the author of several books on evolutionary anthropology.

Thursday 3rd October at 7.30pm An invitation to an evening online conversation about sharing your faith.

Do you ever wonder how you can be comfortable sharing your faith with others? Are you worried you might be laughed at or dismissed or considered strange? Are you concerned you wouldn’t know what to say if someone did want to know more? Join us for the second Faith Talk, a light-hearted conversation exploring how we talk about our faith.     To register or to find out more, email [email protected].

Thursday 10th October  at 7pm The Ordination and Induction of Rev David Lloyd Powell. Details later.

Our Thanksgiving Service

There is a report, including a photograph, of the service in the News for the Churches section of the September edition of the Treasury, the monthly publication of the PCW. Copies of the report without the photograph are available TODAY from Marcia. It can be also be accessed at www.ebcpcw.cymru/en/publications/treasury/

Thought for the Week

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.

To keep our faces towards change and behave

like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable.
