15th January 2023
We welcome everyone to our service today, especially if you are a visitor, worshiping with us for the first time or haven’t been able to worship with us for a while. We invite you to join us for refreshments in the hall following the service, when you can catch up with friends.
It’s our 21st Anniversary! It’s time to celebrate!
Many will be helping us to do that in this morning’s service as most of the groups involved with the church will have an input. All will be revealed in the service which has been arranged by the Worship Group.

Church Family and Pastoral News
We include this in the news sheet to inform our prayers. Please pray for:
- Viviane: her sister is not well enough to have surgery. They spend some time together every afternoon.
- All who live near the river Taf, as they are concerned about their homes being flooded again!
- Our friend Tina has had surgery and it went well; she is a bit groggy but is recovering well.
- People who are in pain and have been told that nothing can be done, just take painkillers!
- Pat Cooke in her concern for Kirsty who is recovering from emergency surgery,. Claire also recovering from a recent op and Maureen who is due to have an operation in the coming weeks.
- Those we have heard about who have contracted COVID since Christmas, we hope that they are not suffering too much and that they will recover with no lasting side effects.
- Our Church Elders as they meet to try an rearrange a date for the postponed Church meeting and plan for Lent, Easter and a possible St David’s Talent Show!
Birthdays
Only one birthday that we are aware of this week – Robert James should be celebrating on Tuesday 17th!

St David’s Guild
Twelve Guild members braved the weather last week. we were well rewarded with a very informative talk by Tracy from the Principality Building Society, about scams, and how to deal with them. For those who missed it, we will be receiving notes which we will share via email, paper copies will also be available.
This week we will have the pleasure of welcoming Dave Kitchen to our Guild – We know Dave well as he has led worship on many occasions, but this will be a ‘first’ for Guild. It should be an entertaining afternoon.

A Message from Phil!
“Hi all. Grace and peace from Milton Keynes! And Blwyddyn Newydd Dda to all.
Although, I’ve just heard that you haven’t had the best of starts to the New Year. My heart sank when I saw photos of Ponty flooded again! Urgh! Well, it’s not much but I wanted you to know that I’m thinking of you, praying that people don’t fall into apathy after it’s happened again, and have sent £100 to the church accounts to be spent as you see fit on those who have suffered. I remembered being so encouraged receiving prayerful and financial support last time the floods came as it felt like a tangible reminder of Christian solidarity. As the African ‘ubuntu’ perspective reminds us, ‘I am because we are’. Sending you my love…and hope to be able to send you a new home address by the end of the month too!
May God continue to bless you in abundance. Your brother, Phil”

Something to think about!
Arguments are like cracks in the walls of dams:
If you don’t sort the problem out there and then,
You’re in the firing line for a big-time disaster.
Proverbs, 17.14,© Dave Kitchen
