14th April 2024
We welcome everyone to our services today, whether online or in person. especially if you haven’t been able to worship with us for a while.
Today is our Monthly Zoom service which is being led by Rev Ray Vincent and we will also be welcoming Faruk Ogut, from Displaced People in Action, and learn more about the many projects and how we help.
We invite you to join us in ‘the square’ from 10.30 for a pre-service chat!
At 10.45, for those who don’t have internet access or prefer ‘live’ worship, there is an alternative service at St David’s. This in-house service will be led by Michael Howells.

Church Family and Pastoral News
We include this in the newsletter to inform our prayers during the week.
- We congratulate Renda and Jamaise on the safe arrival of their daughter Nova who was born late last Sunday (7 April), we think of Magdi and Suzan as they adjust to life with their niece!
- Dave and Kath have had a face-to-face consultation and know that Dave will receive 5 weeks of Radiotherapy alongside Chemotherapy in tablet form, starting 29th
- Several of our older members have been unwell and are having to take antibiotics, we hope they do the job and they will be better soon.
- We give thanks for the facility to join the live-stream service. It helps people feel part of the congregation as they are able to see if not speak to their church friends.
- We also give thanks for Zoom services and the chance to catch up with people we don’t see very often. Long may they continue!
- We continue to hold John Peterkin’s nephew Jack and the family in our prayers.
- We think of those for who this week will hold sad memories, may they know that their loved ones are not forgotten.
- We remember those who live in residential homes and pray for those who care for them.

Colleen’s Handmade Cards
We are delighted to share the news that last year the sale of Colleen’s cards raised a magnificent £680 for our Church Funds. When you consider that they only cost £1.50 or £2.00, that represents a lot of cards.
Our grateful thanks to Colleen for sharing her talents in this way.
A good selection of cards for all occasions are available after the service every Sunday.

Gaza Appeal
We are supporting the URC Commitment for Life appeal for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The aim is to raise £5,000 to help provide vital support and aid through partner agencies.
This is part of a statement that was issued by Josep Borrell Fontelles, Vice-President of the European Commission, and Janez Lenarčič, European Commissioner for Crisis management.
Hunger cannot be used as a weapon of war. What we are seeing is not a natural hazard but a manmade disaster, and it is our moral duty to stop it.
Over 30,000 people have already died due to the conflict, a large part of them children, and the death toll could rapidly increase due to starvation or diseases.
The situation has gone beyond catastrophic. There is an absolute imperative to act now.
Please respond as you are able. The appeal will remain open until April 28th

Thought for the week
“A person may be haunted with doubts, and only grow thereby in faith.
Doubts are the messengers of the Living One to the honest.
They are the first knock at our door of things that are not yet, but have to be, understood.
Doubt must precede every deeper assurance;
for uncertainties are what we first see when we look into a region hitherto unknown, unexplored, unannexed”.
George Macdonald
