14th September 2025
We welcome everyone who joins us either from their homes or in the church for this month’s Zoom Service.
We are very pleased to be joining the congregation of Christ Well URC Swansea when our former minister, Revd Simon Walkling will be leading worship. It will be good to ‘see’ Simon and we look forward to a possibly, thought provoking service.
PLEASE NOTE! The chat room will open from 10.15 and the service will start at 10.30am.
For those in church, coffee and tea will be available in the hall following the service and Handmade cards will be on sale.

A Message from our Minister
It was received on September 1st ~ Apologies the Editor missed it!
Wow. Saturday was so much more than I imagined, my face was aching from smiling so much. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone for coming and making it so special and especially to Hope and Market Square of course for such hard work and care to make it all come together so beautifully. My non-churchgoing family thought it was fantastic and so many of my friends have commented on the warm welcome they received and on the wonderful atmosphere. Clare
Pastoral Matters
We only include names when permission has been given.
- We hold the families of Gill Miller and Cyril Davies in our prayers as they prepare for their funerals.,
- There are several people in our fellowship who are facing many challenges either personally or concerning members of their family, we pray that they will have the help that they most need.
- We think of those who are confined to their homes and in need of constant care; we give thanks for those who provide that care.
- Elsie has had her first Cataract operation and is delighted that she can now appreciate the difference, even if it did mean having to clean the kitchen again!

St David’s Guild
Our Autumn session will start on Monday October 1st. We will meet in the usual room at St Catherine’s from 1.45pm. Once again Marilyn has booked a variety of interesting speakers: our first speaker is Catherine Namaani and her topic is ‘A journey down the Nile’. Guild Diaries are available now.
Meet our local MP
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen Ministerial duties Alex Davies Jones was required in Parliament all week, so the meeting last Thursday was cancelled. It is hoped that the we can reschedule sometime soon.
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP)
The amount collected for MAP was £450. They had a target of £1000 and have raised £4640! We have received a message of thanks on our Facebook page.
When the People’s Peace Walk stopped for lunch in Ynysangharad Park they used a tree (see photo) as a temporary memorial to the children killed in Gaza, the Park Ramblers took time during their walk on Monday to remember the children and take some seed implanted tags to plant in their gardens; If you would like one, please ask!
Call to prayer for peace in the Holy Land
As we witness the devastating escalation of violence in Gaza and the West Bank, the cries of Palestinian church leaders for solidarity and an end to the conflict echo across the global Church, urging us to respond with clarity, compassion, and conviction.
The gravity of this moment demands a visible, united Christian witness—one that speaks to our shared commitment to peace, reconciliation, and the dignity of all God’s people.
Christian Aid and Cytun invite us to join them outside the Senedd in Cardiff Bay on Wednesday 24 September at 12.30pm for a moment of peaceful public prayer and witness.
A message from Alison
As we move to a new monthly newssheet, which will be available on the last Sunday of the month starting on 28 September, please be patient with me as I take on this challenge. I will do my best but it may well take a couple of months to take shape properly.
If YOU have any Church News which you would like to be included, please send this directly to me either by email or phone. Any personal news should only be sent by the person who has news to share, especially if any personal details are included. There is a dedicated e-mail address for items [email protected] and my phone number is in the directory. Please note that the deadline for items to be included will be the Monday (7 days) before the last Sunday in the month. Anything received after (unless in exceptional circumstances) will be included in the following month’s edition.
