Ordination –
Thanks …..from Emmanuel Church, West Wickham,
‘……thank you for the warm welcome you gave us last Saturday for the Ordination and Induction of Phil Wall to your Pastorate. I am sure you could tell from the people who made the journey from South London and elsewhere that he is highly regarded and we hope that he settles well into your environment from both the pastoral and personal angles.
Your catering team did a magnificent job and we were all very well fed and looked after.
It sounded as though all the churches in your area are good friends as are the sources in West Wickham . We know Phil will carry on that commitment.
We send our warm regards to you and the other churches that Phil will be involved with. Dawn Neighbour~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~

Choir for Peace – Sunday 21st at 6pm
Over the years, millions of people have organised all kinds of events to promote awareness of Peace Day, and to encourage reconciliation and peace-building in their own local community. As our contribution we are making our evening service an event to sing together in the name of peace. Our service will take the form of a singing festival which will include; 6 or 7 hymns, two readings, two film clips, and prayers; and a short reflection.
Come to the Well
As a tri-denominational church we contribute to the Baptist , through Home Mission, the URC through Ministry and Maintenance and the PCW. We have recently received leaflets from the Baptists and now we have ‘Come to the well’ from the URC. Both make interesting reading and copies are on the table in Church.
A plea from the Spanish Office!
During the next few weeks I would much appreciate being kept up to date with the ‘news’ otherwise there will be no ‘Church Family News’
So PLEASE if you have something you would like to share with us or an item of interest, email me or pass the info on to someone who can.
Our service next Sunday evening is the result of someone passing an item of interest on to the elders.
Remember it is good to keep in touch.

Thought for the Week
“Worry” it has been said, “is like being in a rocking chair. It doesn’t get you anywhere, but it gives you something to do.” It is this needless worry or concern that is forsaken in turning the whole matter over to God.
Welcoming Students
The welcome week begins on Monday 22nd September, and during that week we have open house at the Meeting House, when we offer refreshments to all the students who drop in. We would very much appreciate the help of members of the churches in providing cakes for this.
The Freshers’ Fayre is on Tuesday 23rd and we are hoping to give out Welsh cakes at the Chaplaincy stall to give students a real welcome to Wales. If you can provide any for us, please bring them in by 5 pm on the Monday.
Then on Wednesday 24th September at 6 pm we have the Welcome Service in the Meeting House to introduce new students to the local churches. You are warmly invited to this, and as usual we hope for a good supply of cakes, something always appreciated by the students – and by others too!.
This is a practical way in which members of the local churches support and help the Chaplaincy in its ministry to students.
Please contact us on 01443 654060 or e-mail chaplaincy@southwales.org.uk if you want us to help with arrangements for getting the cakes here.
