31 December 2017
Our final service of 2017 is being led by members of the congregation who have one thing in common – walking!! – they bring to an end our Advent series of services which have focused on ‘Walking the Way….. as today we Walk the Way…. with The Park Ramblers.
It will be a service with a difference and will include, among other things, tea or coffee and biscuits, so there will be none served in the hall after the service, but you are still invited to gather to chat with friends or buy homemade cards!
For our evening service we are invited to join fellow Christians at St Luke’s Church, Rhydyfelin at 5pm for a traditional Nine Lessons and Carols Service.
The Copper Pot is, as usual, on the table; so don’t take your ‘small change’ home with you, put it in the pot, where it will be used for local charities.

Church Family and Pastoral Hopes!
As we reach the end of 2017 we look forward in the hope that those of our fellowship, or connected to it, who have been unwell, have experienced problems of any kind, have been lonely or sad will enjoy a better 2018 with good health and problems resolved. So we urge those who are able, to visit or phone the sick, the lonely, those who are sad and our friends in residential care.
This Week and in the future:
TODAY we are ALL invited to the Pontypridd Christians Together Traditional service of Nine Lessons and Carols in St. Luke’s at 5pm.
As no epiphany social has been planned this year, at the evening service of 7th January, members are encouraged to bring a poem, prayer or hymn choice alongside some nibbles which we will share alongside the bread and wine of Holy Communion.
Our Church Anniversary on Sunday 14th January will be followed by a Church Lunch at the Heritage Park Hotel. Will those who are interested please add their names to the ‘Sign-up’ sheet TODAY as we have to pay the deposit by Wednesday. The meal will consist of a main course and dessert!
A message from Phil: After the many joys of the advent season, I must give my thanks for the support, prayers, cards and gifts which have come my way over the last few weeks. Though not always helpful for the waistline (!), your care in word and deed is hugely appreciated. Here’s wishing everyone a happy, healthy 2018. Much love and God bless.
The Offertory at our Christmas Eve Midnight and Christmas day services was £230 this will go to the Christian Aid Christmas Appeal ‘Enough for Everyone’ tackling the injustice of hunger in sub – Saharan Africa. The government will match fund all that is raised by this appeal.
The total donated to The Leprosy Mission (TLM) through the collecting boxes and by donations for 2017 was £544.80. Thanks to Pat Howell for her work throughout the year as she keeps us informed by distributing the TLM magazines. If you would like to support this worthy cause new style collecting boxes are on the table.

Today is your final chance to support this year’s Christmas Appeal. We have two recipients, one international and one in the UK
The international one is CRISTIAN on behalf of his daughter Cristina. Viviane has been keeping us informed on her progress.

Special Christmas Donation Envelopes are available.
Our Lent book for 2018 is ‘Abraham: A Journey Through Lent’ by Dr Meg Warner. “Heralded as an exemplar of faith, here is a man with his own distractions and doubts, whose human failings are only too evident. Read a story of journeying, of challenges, of false turns and unbelievable promises, and experience their relevance to your own faith and the world we live in. And finally, encounter a God whose love and faithfulness covers all our disbelief, our mistakes and our own faithlessness, and whose promises always come to fulfilment.” Books cost £7 and Meg will be giving a free lecture on her work at our church on the evening of March 28th. Sign-up sheet for the book is at the back
